I have poor lung function, on holiday I suffered from breathlessness, I arrived at A& E at Sur. The admissions guy was paranoid about med insurance I assured himI was covered, still wanted €200 kept the pressure on wanting confirmation from insurance company in Ireland, I ended up having to call them, this paty was a lot of hassle for me. ( Guess they must get stung with non insured patients).

Early days to comment but so far no problem. My wife broke her hip yesterday. The ambulance drivers asked me if I had a passport and credit card. Called at hotel on way to pick them up. At reception all was politely explained. A €200 deposit and insurance details and if no need to stay in settle on the day. She needs to stay in and again politely asked to speak with insurers in the office. A few minutes on the phone and all sorted and going forward being dealt with by hospital and insurers direct. Looks like most of the complaints about having to pay don’t remember a lot of insurance policies have an excess amount and also this highlights the slack way NHS allow non residents to abuse the system and get free treatment to which they are not entitled.

Looks like the next shift start the treatment i.e. midnight shift, because all night they gave oxygen, IV antibiotics, blood pressure, oxygen levels etc full treatment and care.

Financial gain over health or even common courtesy. I begrudge one star - would give 0 if I could.

1st don’t panic as quality of doctors is good here. Everything else is more less terrible. I was there with 2years daughter. Spend there two nights. Was accommodated in a nice room (better than most hotels in Tenerife). Hospital basically kept a child connected to droplet machine until they were sure that my insurance covers all the expenses (1night/~1k euro). Droplet was running idle for a 2nd day. Sadly but those guys does not work based on Hypocrite principles. If you’re still in waiting room and your condition is not critical its not too late to look for alternative.
